Random. Remarkable.

NYFW starts tomorrow!!!!  That’s, New York Fashion Week for those of you who aren’t acronym savvy..ijs.  Now, for most glams, myself included, this does not mean that our mailboxes (or email for that matter) have been flooded with invitations.  I mean, I live in Michigan.  I have ZERO invitations. Nonetheless, just because I’m not invited to the party doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate.  This goes for you too!  So, here are a few of my “If I were going to the shows, I’d wear…” moments.  Enjoy!

Oh, and if you REALLY want to feel like a front-row fashionishta, catch images of all the shows at Style.com!

I STAND CORRECTED! My last post featuring the ‘Between Me & You” journal series may have caused a bit of confusion.  Since I am looking to jot down my thoughts and a share them with my daughter, I will actually be purchasing the MOM version, not the DAUGHTER version, since I’m MOM.  Get it?!  Good!  Now, log on to the website and purchase your journal so you can start recording your thoughts today!!

Ever since the birth of my daughter, my husband and I have dedicated Valentine’s Day to her.  She’s the recipeint of flowers and candy and she loves it!  Now that she’s getting older, he and I try and find more meaningful gifts for her to let her know how we feel about her.  You know, the mushy stuff!  Well, in my search for a unique gift, I came across a series of journals that will serve as the perfect testiment to our fantastic relationship.  She means the world to me and I want her to have my thougths and love in writing, as well as her heart!
Ok, ok…to the point!  I’ll be purchasing this journal for her and we’ll use this as our secret place to record our feelings and thoughts for one another.
There are several other versions of this journal that are dedicated to Mom, Dad, Hubbs, Son, BFF, etc. Oh, and they’re only $14.95…talk about a penny for your thoughts!

Grammatically speaking…

Dear All,

The proper way to shorten the word ‘congratulations’ is ‘congraTs’, not ‘congraDs’. Please file this away for your reference.

REALity?

I cannot tell a lie, I am a fan of reality TV, especially those damn Housewives on BRAVO!  I think it’s entertaining.  Just as it should be.  However, the more I chat with my friends about this television genre, the more I realize that people have forgotten that it’s not REAL.  I hear so many people, mainly women, declare that they are going ‘reality tv free’ after several years of binging on the crap.  They say things like, “I can’t believe they allow this crap on TV…”, “I’m losing brain cells watching these shows…”, “My husband says I’m turning into a dummy…”  Is it REALly that serious?  Since when have we become such a serious society that we can’t laugh at the incomparable NeNe Leakes when she confidently tells Sheree, “I’m rich bitch!”  I mean, c’mon…that’s hilarious!  I think we’ve gotten our signals crossed and somewhere in our minds believe that we’d put on a better show.  That we lead more interesting lives than those that are featured on tv and called reality. That may be the case.  Your reality probably is more dynamic than what we see on tv, but, where would you be if we didn’t have these characters to mock and/or emulate?  What would you chat about at the water cooler on Monday morning?  How many times have you said to someone, “who gon’ check me boo?”, compliments of Sheree Whitfield?  My point is, once you turn off your television and get back to the business of your REALity, don’t turn your nose up to the ones that gave that little chuckle for the evening.  You aren’t losing your intelligence by watching.  You’re not being a less productive person of society.  You’re simply taking a well-deserved break from the reality that you call life.  It’s ok, no one’s judging…REALLY.

Starting a blog has been on my ‘to do’ list for some time. The problem is, I never put it there!  My friends have been adding this to my list for a few years. I gave in last year and started a fashion-focused blog that featured several photos of me.  That made me uncomfortable.  To be quite honest, I don’t find myself to be that interesting.  So, after a few months, I abandoned that blog.  Here I am again, but this time on my own terms and armed with my own topics…my thoughts.
I hope you enjoy the journey….
